Importer

If you want to make a detailed study about the retail suppliers then you need to have a clear concept about importer without whom the retail business wont be able to continue. The retail business operates with the aid of a chain of retail suppliers which include producers, importers, packaging suppliers, wholesaler, shipper, retailer, customer and consumer.

Producers lie at the base of the pyramidal structure of retail industry. However the role played by the importers cannot be neglected. Importers are in fact second in the hierarchy of the retail business. They act as a connecting link between the producers and the packaging suppliers.
The word import generally means bringing in foreign goods or products to one's own countries from other foreign countries. The importers have to shoulder the responsibility of such transactions. In retail industries importers usually buy the goods produced by the producers and transfer them directly to the next level that is the packaging suppliers. The goods can be in form of agricultural products in case of the agriculture or groceries, or other commodities like furniture, carpet, potteries and other handicraft items.

While buying the products the importers have to be careful about certain factors. First and formost they have to check the quality of the products in addition to the quantity. They should be careful about the those goods that may be damaged due to improper refrigeration or lack of storage. They must also take care to see that the producers provide them with the best quality in a reasonable price. The price factor should be kept in mind since the income and expenditure of the producers along with the packaging suppliers, wholesalers, retailers, shipper, consumer and the customer s are also involved in it.
Sometimes the customers can buy directly from the importers. The importers not only deal with the suppliers but also with the customers and consumers. The customers are responsible for the profits and the savings.

Nowadays since the world has become very small with the advancement of science and technology you can sit at home and find out the suitable importer. But in case of retail industries and in agricultural sectors often there is lack of coordination between the importers and producers and also packaging suppliers which has resulted in the loss of all three and affected retail industry badly.

Hence more attention should be given on the co-ordination among the producers, importers and packaging suppliers in order to run the retail industry smoothly and at the same time keeping in mind the profit of all the members of hierarchy.
