Wholesalers are one of the retail suppliers without whom the retail industries will be lagging behind. If we carefully analyse retail industries then a pyramidal structure will be evident at the base of which lies the producers. The wholesaler comes fourth preeceeded by importer and packaging suppliers and followed by shipper, customers and consumers.

Wholesaler sometimes sell the products by offering discounts on the retail price suggested by the manufacturer. But buying from the wholesaler may not be a profit every time as the market price is often ignored in some cases.

Wholesaler is accountable for the goods he sales. They mainly sell the quality product at a reasonable price providing bonus to the customers and at the same time making profit.

Wholesalers need to chose the area of selling the commodities with great care. They must also chose the items keeping in mind the demand and taste of the customers. They must keep in mind the supply and demand ratio otherwise the retail business may suffer. They must also maintain a close cooperation with the producers and also the importers. In order to compete they should also seek help from the packaging suppliers as they need to promote their goods in the most presentable manner.

A close co-ordination should also be maintained with the customers so that the wholesaler may sell the products according to the needs of the customers.

The wholesale products range from the agricultural products to art and crafts. But whatever may be the product the wholesaler should not compromise with the quality. There are many customers who directly buy goods from the wholesalers and sell them. People however sometimes have the notion that they can make profit by directly buying the commodities from the wholesalers and then selling them but the case may not be that easy when they are competing with national and international companies. Hence buyers have to be more careful and responsible. It is often found that the wholesaler sells the remaining stock or goods at the year ending at a low price. Hence the buyers have to take guard against that.

Wholesaler plays an important role in the retail industries thereby helping in the profit of such industries.
