The weekly street markets in Greece are mostly held in the mornings and sell fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and flowers and plants. There is also an annual street market held in Greece which is called ‘panigyri’ and takes place in the evenings. There are many other places across the world where similar markets are held and people have a great time finding goods and products at throw away prices. In India, street markets are popular in most of the cities and small towns. These markets attract numerous tourists coming to India from all over the world.

There are many other kinds of retailing outlets besides the street market and these include departmental stores, retail chains, van retailing, warehouse club, supermarket and many more. With so many supermarkets springing up in big cities and towns all over the world the popularity of street market is slowly declining. However in some places the traditional street market has still managed to retain its charm for many customers despite the new trend of supermarket and mall shopping.
